Design Technician

Job Purpose
To understand customer specifications and tender documents
to expedite LV switchgear design for street lighting and associated
power distribution markets.
Key Accountabilities:
- Carry out design work using Autocad LT and specify to component
level to create a BOM.
- Carry out post manufacture testing of the systems to ensure
they comply with the 17th Edition Electrical Regulations
and BSEN 60439
- Create all required documentation and test certificates
- Ensure all projects are completed on time and within budget
- Provide technical support for internal and external sales
- Produce quotations
- Liaise with customers and sales team
- Be able to negotiate with suppliers and procure parts required
for the final assemblies.
Dimensions:
The role will be based at Thame. Visits to LucyZodion offices
and customers in UK will be required
Secondary Activities / Tasks
To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as in
order to maintain and / or improve the efficiency, quality and
service provided by the Pre-wired Department.
Experience Knowledge & Skills
Functional Competencies
Essential
- GCSE Eng, Maths and Science (or equivalent)
- ONC Electrical or Mechatronics (or equivalent)
- Autocad LT or similar CAD experience
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel
- Design experience in similar manufacturing environment
- Experience of dealing with customers and interpreting their
requirements
Desirable
- City & Guilds 2382-10 (or equivalent)
- City & Guilds 2391 (or equivalent)
Behavioural competencies
Essential
- Ability to work on own initiative within a small team
- Have a hands on approach to Engineering
Other requirements
- Must understand the importance of deadlines and the ability to
exceed customers' expectations
- Required to have flexible hands on approach to all aspects of
the design process
